Pampered Pets and Their People

Maybe it really is true what they say… when times are tough in recessions, spending goes up on two things: alcohol and pets. Okay, they may not actually say that now, and we’re not actually sure about the alcohol part, but we’re willing to bet our business that the pet part is true.

The proof is everywhere and here’s just a few things we’ve seen around Denver…

• Pet boutiques popping up all over the place! 
• Handcrafted, gourmet good-for-your-pet treats and food that isn’t cheap! 
• Water bowls and pet parking areas near outdoor patios of restaurants, shops and bars.
• Dog parks that aren't just big sandboxes. We're talking cool water fountains, plenty of space and more than a few are currently being remodeled.
• More people with pets, of course... walking, running, playing, driving...
  

And this great stat made us happy! Good reports that pet ownership is up and “Between 2011 and 2012, the number of U.S. households with at least one pet increased 2.1 percent, to a total of 72.9 million homes”. People and pets belong together and more people than ever are discovering it!
